ADRIAN, Mich. (SabreAthletics.com) – The Marian University women's hockey team fell on the road in the first of a two-game series to Adrian College, 3-0, in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play this evening, Feb. 11.

Amanda Alexander made 48 saves, but it wasn't enough to slow down the Bulldogs, who scored once in the first and twice in the second en route to the shutout win. Adrian goalie Brittany Zeches made 16 saves in earning the shutout.
Adrian improves to 11-8-2 overall, 9-6-2 in the NCHA. Meanwhile, the Sabres fall to 1-18-3 (1-14-2 NCHA).
The Bulldogs got into the scoring column right away as Danielle Smith netted a power play goal at the 2:22 mark of the first period. That's how the score would stay after the opening stanza.
At the 13:44 mark of the second period, Hannah McGowan made it 2-0 Adrian with her 12th goal of the season. Before the end of the period, Olivia Rork tacked on a power play insurance tally at the 17:02 mark.
Adrian finished the game 2-for-6 on the power play, while the Sabre went 0-for-4 in their chances.
Marian was outshot, 51-16, in the contest.
Both teams will conclude the two-game series tomorrow at 2 p.m. eastern time.
