Women's Hockey Falls to St. Norbert, 3-0

– The Marian University women's hockey team fell to St. Norbert College on the road, 3-0, this evening, Feb. 17, in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play at the Cornerstone Community Center's Resch Olympic Pavilion.

St. Norbert took an early 2-0 lead after Lotta Haarala scored a power play goal at the 5:29 mark in the first period. The Sabres had an opportunity to answer with a power play of their own, but the Green Knights seized the chance to add a short-handed goal when Jade Popescul capitalized on a breakaway to give SNC a 2-0 lead before the end of the first period. It was all the hosts needed en route to the win.

St. Norbert won for the eighth time in 11 tries and improve to 12-12 overall, 10-9 in the NCHA. Meanwhile, Marian fell to 1-20-3 (1-16-2 NCHA).

The Sabres held the Green Knights scoreless in the second period before SNC added a third period insurance goal when on Madeleine Siggelin's power play tally at the 2:33 mark.

St. Norbert outshot Marian, 30-8, in the contest.

Both teams will wrap up the series and the regular season tomorrow afternoon in Fond du Lac. Puck drops at 3 p.m. inside Blue Line Family Ice Center.
