FOND DU LAC, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – On senior night,
Tommy Fitzpatrick,
Lane Boswell,
Mike McCurtain,
Dmitry Sentsov and
Chris Thompson made it one to remember as they led the Marian University men's hockey team to its third straight MCHA North Division title following a 6-2 win over Concordia University Wisconsin Saturday, Feb. 18.
Three first period goals paced the Sabres to a commanding lead. Freshman defenseman
Kevin Darcy stole the spotlight briefly as he scored his first career goal at the 11:58 mark. Boswell lit the lamp, as did
Dakota Dubetz,
Brian Berger en route to the win. Dubetz and Berger each tallied two goals apiece in the win. Sophomore goalie

Marian improves to 13-8-4 overall and concludes MCHA play with a 12-5-3 mark. Meanwhile, CUW finishes its season to 2-20-3 (2-16-2 MCHA).
Darcy's goal gave the Sabres an early advantage, but they weren't satisfied with one. Boswell scored his first goal of the season on a short-handed opportunity with
Matt Berger finding him behind the Falcon defense at the 17-minute mark. Only 1:27 later, Dubetz found the back of the net with his 13th of the season.
Bryce Wilson and
Tommy Fitzpatrick earned assists on the play.
Brian Berger then made it 4-0 with his first of two goals on the year at the 13:18 mark in the second period. Willis then lost the shutout 1:40 shy of the second intermission when Joseph Greg Douglas scored to make it 4-1.
The Sabres tallied two goals in the third when Berger scored his second and team-leading 17th goal of the year before Dubetz netted his 14th.
In his final regular season game, Fitzpatrick tallied two assists on the night to give him 16 for the season and a team-record 63 for his career as a defenseman. He also set the record for points by a defenseman, tallying his 76th career point tonight.
The Sabres will enjoy a first round bye in the MCHA Tournament, which begins next weekend.
