Box Score FOND DU LAC, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) - Marian University women's volleyball team dropped a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match in straight sets to Dominican University, (18-25, 18-25, 15-25), on Tuesday Oct. 4. The fast paced offense by Dominican seemed to be too much for Marian, as they were unable to recover.
The Sabres rallied off several points to fight back against the Stars cutting to the Star's lead in half in each set, cutting the lead to 2 in the first second and third set. Despite the valiant comeback by Sabres, the conference favorite was just too much for the Sabres.
Dominican's Carri Chambers and Claire Dezelski both fired off 13 kills to lead both teams. Freshmen Morgan Dercks and Jordan Menges lead the team in assists with 11. Sophomore Casey Lamberty led the team in total attacks with 29, and freshman Catelyn Brehm lead the team in kill percentage with .556%. As a team, the Sabres tallied 30 kills and 117 total assists to Domnican's 115. However, Dominican lead edged out the Sabres in Digs by one, 50-49.
The Sabres hope to bounce back return to action Saturday Oct. 5 as they travel to Milwaukee to take on the Alverno Inferno at 11 a.m.
