Box Score LAKE FOREST, Ill. (SabreAthletics.com) - With three first-period goals, Lake Forest made quick work of the Sabres on Friday, January 17, on their way to a 9-0 victory in NCHA play.
Michelle Greenway put the Foresters on the board early on in the first, beating sophomore Ali Glazer glove-side. Greeneway's shot rang off the near-post and crossbar before carroming off the far-post and into the twine. The lead would double just minutes later as Holly Lesperance added her first of the night. Following a Sabres penalty, Lake Forest capitalized on their first power-play of the evening when Morgan Pope scored at 13:25 into the first period.
The second and third periods would not be generous to Marian as Lake Forest would add two goals in the second and four goals in the third. Lake Forest outshot Marian 35-22 and went three-for-four on the power-play. Marian had a five-on-three powerplay in the second period, but were unable to capitalize on the opportunity.
Marian will not have long to worry about this loss, as the teams will wrap-up the weekend series on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 2 p.m.
