Sabres Fall in Final Minutes on Senior Day

Box Score

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (SabreAthletics.Com) - The Sabres (5-12, 2-8 NACC) hosted their final home-game of the year as the Benedictine Eagles (10-6-1, 8-1-1 NACC) came to town for the Sabres final NACC matchup. Bryce Woldt and Jose Roman suited up for their final game as a Sabre at Smith Field, as the Sabres battled in a tight competition, ultimately falling shot to the rival Eagles 1-0.

Wolt had himself a game, having eight saves stopping several scoring opportunities for the Eagles. Despite the solid effort by the senior, Benedictine outplayed the Sabres offensively, having nine shots on goal compared to the Sabres one.

In a late effort to get on the board, the Eagles mustered up a late attack with three offensive members in front of the Sabre's goal. Alexis Gutierrez was able to capitalize on the opportunity, scoring on a redirected pass, slipping by the reach of Woldt with two minutes left on the clock.

The Sabres had a solid day defensively, but were unable to find many breakaway opportunities, having only five shots on the day with one shot on goal.

Both team struggle on the day with penalties, each having a goal taken away due to an off-sides call. Six yellow cards were given in the match, as each team received three along with a total of 23 fouls called.

With a three day rest, the Sabres look to finish the season with a win, as they travel to UW-Whitewater for their final game of the year. Action starts at 7 pm.
