FOND DU LAC, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) -- The Marian University Women's hockey team gave the Adrian Bulldogs all it could handle, today, Nov. 8, in the final game of the weekend series. It was an even battle early on, but the game slipped away from the Sabres in the third period, resulting in a 6-2 setback.

It was a goalie's duel in the first period, as each silenced the opposing offense. Ali Glazer had her first start of the year guarding net, taking on the tough Jade Walsh. Each stopped everything that came their way as Glazer made 16 saves and Walsh made 10.

It was a different story for the goalies in the second period, though. Adrian was the first to get on the board 3 minutes into the period, when Kristin Lewicki found the back of the net off quick passes from Logan Taylor and Kelsey Kusch. Marian was quick to respond when Brittany Syms and Nina Laurie scored back-to-back goals 5 minutes later to jump out on top, 2-1.

It didn't take long for the Bulldogs to erase the Marian lead, though, as Kusch evened the score 30 seconds later. The Bulldogs added one more late in the first as Lewicki scored her second goal of the period.

The chance of a comeback quickly vanished in the third as the Bulldogs scored two quick goals to gain a healthy three-goal lead and eventually came away with the win. The setback drops the Sabres to 0-4, despite two promising battles against their undefeated conference foes.

Marian will look to bounce back next weekend as they travel to Finlandia for a two-game series. Game one is set for 6:15 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, at the Houghton County Arena.
