Box Score MEQUON, Wis. – Jessica Roberts led Marian with nine kills and five assists, but Concordia Wisconsin swept the Sabres by scores of 25-23, 25-19, 25-16 in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action at R. John Buuck Field House.
Marian opened the first set with a 2-0 lead, however, the Falcons scored six in a row and gained momentum.
Midway through the set the Falcons led 15-12, but the Sabres rallied to take the lead. Amber Baker's ace put the Sabres up 16-15, but CUW responded with four-straight points. Marian retaliated and Hannah Buntrock's kill tied it at 22-22, however, the Falcons scored three out of the next four points and seized the set.
In set two the Sabres and Falcons traded points before the home team gained control. Tied at 14-14, CUW scored four-straight and easily closed out the set.
The Falcons controlled the beginning of set three and led 11-5. The Sabres responded with a 4-1 run and cut the deficit to within three. However, CUW (13-7, 6-0 NACC) scored six points in a row to gain control and would eventually close out the set.
Catelyn Brehm helped out with seven kills and led the Sabres with a .222 hitting percentage. Baker had a team-high 20 assists and contributed seven digs.
Marian (3-19, 1-5 NACC) returns to action Friday at Rockford.
