Box Score MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Alyssa Lennon, Jessica Retzlaff and Reina Dionisio each netted first-half goals en route to a 5-2 Marian win over Wisconsin Lutheran Wednesday evening in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action at the Warrior Soccer Field.
"I was very happy and proud of our performance," MU head coach Jillian Sauer said. "We played with heart, created scoring opportunities and played smart defense."
It didn't take long for the Sabres to find success. 47 seconds into the match Lennon received a crossing pass from Retzlaff and headed the ball past the WLC goalkeeper. At the 14-minute mark Retzlaff scored on a breakaway and the Sabres led 2-0.
Dionisio found the back of the net at 31:52 and the Blue and White went into the break with a 3-1 lead.
Becca Kalish scored at 70:32 and Carley Schmit pound pay dirt at 85:19 to put the game out of reach.
"Although we didn't make the conference tournament, the team should be happy of what we achieved and how much we've improved over the last two months," added Sauer.
Marian finishes its season with a 7-12-0 overall record and a 3-7-0 mark in conference play.
