Box Score MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Marian opened the first quarter with a 19-0 run and rolled to a 61-30 over Mount Mary Saturday afternoon.
At 9:36 in the first quarter Nicole Paulus hit a 3-pointer to start a 19-point run that lasted nearly eight minutes and the Sabres led 23-4 after the first quarter.
In the second quarter the Sabres' defense kept the pressure on the Blue Angels. Marian hit 67 percent (8-of-12) of its shots, while holding Mount Mary to 33 percent (4-of-12) and went into halftime with a commanding 33-10 lead.
To start the third quarter MU left no doubt of what the final result would be. The Sabres started the quarter with an 11-2 run and at the end of three quarters led 56-18.
Brittany Bauman scored a game-high 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field. She also was a deadly 3-of-4 from behind the arc. Paulus also helped out with 14 points and handed out five assists.
Becky Onan scored 11 points to lead Mount Mary (1-3, 0-0 GSAA).
Marian (2-0, 0-0 NACC) returns to the hardwood Tuesday versus Ripon. Tip is set for 7 p.m. at Sadoff Gymnasium.
