Box Score MOORHEAD, Minn. - The Marian University women's hockey team (2-6-0, 0-4-0 NCHA) opened a non-conference series with Concordia Moorhead but fell to the Cobbers by a 5-2 final.
The Cobbers opened the scoring in a first period that saw Concordia Moorhead outshoot Marian 10-1. Hailey Miller then evened the score with her first collegiate goal to open the second period with an assist to Emily Everson.
Concordia Moorhead answered back with a power play score and a goal in the final minute to close out the second period with a 3-1 lead.
Everson then earned her second point of the night with an unassisted goal to cut the deficit down to 3-2. The Cobbers were able to answer, however, with a pair of goals to put the final score at 5-2.
Lindsey Strainis finished the night with 23 saves, while Miller had a team-high four shots on goal.
The Sabres offense was able to get stronger as the game went on but were outshot 28-17.
Marian concludes their non-conference series with the Cobbers tomorrow, Sunday, Nov. 29 with puck drop at 2 p.m.
