Marian offense falls short in setback

FOND DU LAC, Wis.Lindsay Vogels scored a team-high 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field, but the Marian women's basketball team dropped a 70-44 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference contest Friday evening at Sadoff Gymnasium.

The first quarter was evenly contested and it ended with MSOE holding a 17-15 advantage. In the opening 10 minutes each starter found the basket, with Vogels' six points leading the way.

MSOE outscored MU 12-7 in the second quarter and went into halftime with a 29-22 lead.

The Raiders opened the third quarter with a 17-9 run and outscored the Sabres 22-11 and momentum ticked towards the visitors. 

Holly Denfeld scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead MSOE (5-4, 4-1 NACC).

As a team the Sabres shot 16-of-51 from the floor, while the Raiders were 26-of-60, good for 43 percent.

Marian (4-5, 2-4 NACC) travels to Northland and UW-Superior for a pair of non-conference games over break.
