Box Score SUPERIOR, Wis. – Brandi Bender dropped a game-high 14 points but a second-half offensive surge propelled Wisconsin-Superior past Marian 72-61 at the Mertz Mortorelli Gymnasium.
Both teams traded blows in the first half and the Yellowjackets went into halftime with a 33-27 lead.
However, UWS (8-2) outscored Marian 20-8 in the third quarter to seize momentum. The Sabres rallied back in the fourth quarter and outpointed the Yellowjackets 26-19.
Marian played efficient defense and forced 15 turnovers, which the Blue and White turned into 10 points.
Brittany Bauman and Lindsay Vogels each scored 12 points.
Hailey Kontny scored 13 points to lead UWS.
Marian (4-7) returns to the court Jan. 5 for a conference bout at Lakeland.
