Box Score MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Brandi Bender scored a team-high 12 points but the Marian women's basketball team dropped a 71-51 decision at Wisconsin Lutheran Tuesday evening in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action.
The first half was evenly matched and the Sabres went into halftime down 35-33.
It was a third quarter offensive lull that did the Sabres in. WLC outscored MU 21-3 and the visitors went 0-of-14 from the field. The Sabres also turned the ball over seven times and only forced three steals.
MU regrouped in the fourth quarter and scored 15 points and went 7-of-9 from the free-throw line.
As a team the Sabres shot 30 percent (16-of-52) from the field, while the Warriors hit 45 percent (27-of-59) their shots.
Brittany Bauman scored 11 points, Nicole Paulus helped out with 10 points and Lindsay Vogels scored nine points.
Jen Dowden scored a game-high 22 points to lead WLC (5-3, 3-0 NACC)
MU (3-4, 1-3 NACC) plays host to Rockford on Saturday.
