EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The Marian University softball team scored 10 runs in game two of a non-conference double-header at Wisconson-Eau Claire to steal a win on the road.
The Sabres lost 8-1 to the Blugolds in game one, but eight hits in game two propelled them to a 10-7 win.
Tana VandenHeuvel and Emily Gorges came away with six RBIs as they each had two hits to lead the Sabre attack. The pair hit back-to-back singles, driving in three runs to cap off a five-run fifth inning that put Marian up by three.
The Sabres added four runs in the top of the seventh to preserve the win.
Starting pitcher Shannon Hurray heated up late in her performance, shutting down the Blugolds en route to her second win in a row.
The Sabres return to Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action on Saturday, April 4 as they travel to Benedictine.
