FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Meg Hartzell, Andrea Krahenbuhl and Melissa Spannbauer were victorious in singles action, however, the Marian tennis team dropped a competitive bout against Wisconsin Lutheran, 5-4, Wednesday evening in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action at Buttermilk Creek Park.
"We had opportunities at various points during the match," MU head coach Marcus Wiegert said. "We saw some improvement in spots but we couldn't capitalize when we needed to."
Hartzell won No. 1 singles 6-0, 4-6, 6-2 and Krahenbuhl competed in No. 3 singles and took a tough contest 6-4, 6-4.
In No. 4 singles Spannbauer was victorious 7-5, 6-4.
In No. 2 doubles, Hartzell and Celeste Degeneffe cruised to an 8-2 win.
WLC (5-1, 3-0 NACC) won No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
MU (3-3, 2-3 NACC) returns to the court Friday with a conference match against Lakeland.
