Box Score FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Marian University men's soccer (6-1-0, 1-0-0 NACC) downed Concordia Chicago 3-1 to open Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play.
Sophomore forward Alonso Fragoso scored twice in the first 25 minutes of the game to put the Sabres up 2-0. His first goal came off a scramble in front of the net with the second coming in transition off a long punt from freshman keeper Ian Chacon.
The Cougars cut the lead in half with a goal in the 32nd minute setting the half time score at 2-1.
Marian held a slight advantage in shots at the break with a 5-4 margin.
Fragoso was able to complete his hat trick in the 80th minute with an assist to sophomore forward Jeroham Duran. This goal proved to be the cushion the Sabres needed as they went on for the 3-1 final.
The Sabres finished the game outshooting CUC 11-8 with Chacon making three saves on four shots on goal.
Marian next hosts Lawrence in non-conference action Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m.
