AURORA, Ill. – Alexis Peterson tallied her second goal of the season, but the Marian women's soccer team couldn't withstand a potent Aurora offensive attack and dropped a 5-1 decision Sunday afternoon in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play at Vago Field.

Two minutes into the first half Peterson found the back of the net to give the Sabres a 1-0 lead. However, the Spartans (5-3, 2-0 NACC) scored three-straight goals and went into the break with a 3-1 advantage.

AU scored twice in the second half to put the match out of reach.

Alysha Kallas finished with a match-high seven saves.

The Sabres (3-6, 0-3 NACC) return to the pitch Wednesday at Lake Forest for a non-conference affair. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
