FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Marian women's tennis team improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference with a pair of convincing 8-1 wins over Dominican and Concordia Chicago.

"I thought we had a great focus today. Our doubles and singles teams competed and fought through the heat and humidity," MU head coach Marcus Wiegert said. "This team has taken to coaching and is open to challenges. Coach (Brian) Ottman and I are very happy with our team's results this weekend."

In the morning session that Sabres went 6-0 in singles competition.

Meg Hartzell (6-1, 6-2), Alissa Heid (6-1, 6-2), Andrea Krahenbuhl (6-2, 6-2), Melissa Spannbauer (6-0, 6-0), Kristin Houle (6-0, 6-2) and Alyssa Ostrowski (6-0, 6-0) all rolled to victories.

In doubles action the Sabres won two out of three matches.

The team of Samantha Smits and Houle easily won 8-0 and Celeste Degeneffe and Hartzell also won an 8-0 decision.

The Sabres continued to dominate in the afternoon match against CUC.

Hartzell (6-2, 6-0), Heid (6-3, 6-2), Krahenbuhl (6-0, 6-0) and Spannbauer (4-6, 6-0, 10-8) were victorious.

The doubles team of Hartzell and Degeneffe won 8-0.

The Sabres return to action Tuesday with a home match against Concordia Wisconsin.
