Box Score CHICAGO, Ill. – Sophomore Jeroham Duran scored at 74:43 in the second half to break a 1-1 tie and propel the Marian men's soccer team past Manchester 2-1 Sunday afternoon at the Illinois Tech Tournament.
"It was a come from behind victory, which is excellent," said MU head coach Craig Peltonen. "In the second half Manchester came out strong. They scored early, but we responded and did a great job of keeping our composure."
After a scoreless first half both teams found success on offense in the second stanza.
Less than two minutes into the half Ola Ladapo scored to put Manchester (0-1-1) up 1-0. However, it didn't take long for the Sabres to counter.
At 51:46 Alonso Fragoso netted his fourth goal of the season to tie the match at 1-1.
The Sabres' offense found themselves with several scoring opportunities. The Blue and White outshot their opponents 20-11, including a 12-8 advantage in the second half.
The Sabres (3-0) return to the pitch Saturday, Sept. 12 against Knox.
