Box Score BELOIT, Wis. – Alyssa Lennon and Carley Schmit each tallied second half goals as the Marian women's soccer team topped Beloit 2-0 Sunday afternoon.
"It was pretty familiar to the Lawrence game and we had a hard time getting momentum on offense in the first half," MU head coach Jillian Sauer said. "Our defense played well throughout the match and overall I'm pleased with the win."
The first half was an offensive stalemate, however, it was busy for junior goalkeeper Alysha Kallas. The Green Bay, Wis. native made three of her game-high five stops as the Sabres shutout an opponent for the first time this year.
At 52.27 in the second stanza Lennon scored to give the Sabres the lead.
Schmit added an insurance goal at 61:17 and the Sabres closed out the win.
Reina Dionisio and Nicole Wojahn each recorded a shot on goal.
Courtney Ceurvost led Beloit (1-2) with three shots on goal.
The Sabres (2-0) return to the pitch Wednesday, Sept. 9 at home against St. Norbert.
