LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Nicole Paulus scored a team-high 17 points to lead Marian past Dominican 68-60 Saturday afternoon in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action played at the Igini Sports Forum.

Paulus' layup at 8:32 in the first quarter started a 14-1 run that lasted over eight minutes. The Sabres went into halftime with a 31-21 lead.

DU (2-13, 1-9 NACC) made a run late in the fourth quarter and at 3:35 came within two at 54-52.

Paulus then scored MU's next nine points and the Blue and White defense held true to claim the victory.

Brandi Bender scored 16 points and Hunter Godfroy came off the bench to chip in 12 points.

Brittany Bauman helped out with eight points and grabbed 10 rebounds and narrowly missed the double-double.

Lindsay Vogels scored four points and hauled in six rebounds.

MU (5-10, 3-7 NACC) shot 40 percent (20-of-50) from the field, while DU connected on 34 percent (23-of-66) of its attempts from the floor.

Allie Tapanes scored 19 points to lead the Stars.

The Sabres return to the hardwood Tuesday, Jan. 19 at Concordia Wisconsin.
