MEQUON, Wis. – Brittany Bauman scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds and narrowly missed the double-double, but Concordia Wisconsin started fast to defeat Marian 78-64 in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play at the R. John Buuck Field House.

The Sabres went to Bauman often in the first quarter and she responded with five points, three rebounds and an assist. To counter the MU attack CUW used a balanced offensive effort and led 19-13 after 10 minutes of play.

In the second quarter MU used its bench to generate offense. Hunter Godfroy scored six points and Jessica Roberts helped out with four points. However, the Falcons led 44-27 at the break.

The Sabres were forced to play catch-up the remainder of the contest. Brandi Bender hit a 3-pointer with 51 seconds remaining to bring the Sabres to within 76-64.

Godfroy helped out with 12 points and Roberts chipped in 10 points.

MU was effective at the free-throw line and converted 11-of-14 of its attempts.

Madelyn Landgraf scored a game-high 18 points to lead CUW (11-3, 8-2 NACC).

MU (5-10, 3-7 NACC) returns to the hardwood Saturday versus Aurora.
