MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Junior Jessica Roberts scored a career-high 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field, but the Marian women's basketball team suffered a 70-45 setback at the hands of Alverno Saturday evening.

The first half was evenly matched and the Inferno went into the break with a 32-24 advantage.

It was in the third quarter when AC (9-10, 6-8 NACC) separated itself and outscored the Sabres 23-12. In the quarter the Inferno shot 58 percent (10-of-18) from the floor and forced the Sabres into eight turnovers.

Brittany Bauman scored 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field. She also grabbed a team-high five rebounds.

As a team the Sabres shot 38 percent (19-of-49) from the floor, meanwhile the Inferno converted 41 percent (26-of-63) of its shots from the field. AC was a sizzling 8-of-19 from the 3-poine line.

MU (5-14, 3-11 NACC) returns to the hardwood Tuesday evening versus Wisconsin Lutheran.
