Box Score FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Nicole Paulus scored a game-high 21 points but Concordia-Chicago used a disruptive defense to top the Sabres 75-63 Saturday afternoon in Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference action played at Sadoff Gymnasium.
The first quarter was evenly played with the Cougars holding a 22-17 advantage.
However, the second quarter was a different tale. CUC forced 12 turnovers and outscored MU 16-7 and the Cougars went into halftime with a 38-24 lead.
The Sabres rallied in the fourth quarter and outscored the Cougars 23-17 and came within striking distance. Brandi Bender hit a jumper in the lane with 44 seconds remaining to bring MU to within 72-63. However, CUC hit its free throws down the stretch to close out the contest.
CUC (6-6, 4-4 NACC) forced MU into 28 turnovers, which the Cougars turned into 27 points.
Lindsay Vogels scored 13 points and Bender helped out with 10 points.
Lauren Orr scored 14 points to lead the Cougars.
MU (4-9, 2-6 NACC) returns to action Wednesday, Jan. 13 at Edgewood. Tip is set for 7 p.m.
