PLYMOUTH, Wis. – Led by Alonso Fragoso's hat trick, the Marian University men's soccer team defeated Lakeland 6-3 in a pivotal Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference matchup Wednesday afternoon.

After the Muskies scored the opening goal of the match, Israel Tovar responded with a goal at the 23:23 mark. Just four minutes later, Sam Kusik netted a goal to put the Sabres up 2-1, a lead they would keep for the rest of the game.

Muhammed Abshir found pay dirt two minutes into the second half and Fragoso took advantage of a one-on-one matchup to put the Sabres up 4-1. LU then scored two goals to cut the Sabres lead to 4-3. However, Fragoso added goals at 88:19 and 89:12 to complete the hat trick.

MU (5-6-1, 3-3-1 NACC) outshot the Muskies (3-11-0, 1-5-0 NACC) 18-14, and Ian Chacon finished with a game-high seven saves.

The Sabres return to the pitch on Saturday at 2 p.m. when they take on the UW-Whitewater Warhawks in a non-conference match at Smith Field.
