FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Marian University women's volleyball team cruised to a 25-17, 25-15, 25-16 sweep over Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference rival Rockford Friday night at Sadoff Gymnasium.
Marian dominated throughout the contest. As a team the Blue and White hit .287, however, in the first set the Sabres hit .304 and totaled 11 kills to only four errors.
MU's hitting percentage dipped to .175 in set two, but the Sabres responded nicely in set four and hit .458.
Catelyn Brehm finished with a game-high 11 kills and helped out with five digs. Alexandra Meidl chipped in seven kills and Katy Funkhouser finished with six kills.
The Sabres won the battle in front of the net and totaled 10 blocks. Kaitlyn Kelly finished with a game-high three blocks and Hannah Buntrock and Meidl each recorded two blocks.
The Sabres have a quick turnaround and host Concordia Chicago tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Sadoff Gymnasium.
