Box Score MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Marian University women's volleyball team rallied and defeated Alverno 17-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-22, 15-12 Tuesday evening in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action.
Tied 5-5 in the fifth set, MU scored seven points in a row and opened up a 12-5 advantage. The Inferno (3-23, 1-8 NACC) rallied to bring it to within 14-12, but Catelyn Brehm delivered the decisive kill to win the set and clinch the math.
Katy Funkhouser finished with a team-high 14 kills and Brehm and contributed eight kills, 14 digs and two blocks. Alexandra Meidl added six kills and Hannah Buntrock chipped in with five kills.
Amber Baker recorded 16 assists and Amber Yahr added 14 assists. Jenna Skroski notched a team-high 22 digs.
The Sabres (6-19, 4-5 NACC) remain one game out of the sixth and final spot in the NACC tournament. The Blue and White could play themselves into position Friday at Benedictine, who currently hold the sixth spot.
