Box Score DEPERE, Wis. - No. 2 St. Norbert scored three goals in the first ten minutes of the game as they defeated No. 15 Marian University men's hockey (0-1-0, 0-1-0 NCHA) 6-0 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association action.
In a game that saw a total of 21 penalties, neither power play unit could get anything started as Marian would go 0-7 with a man-advantage, while SNC was only 1-12 on the power play. The lone power-play goal of the night would come 1:40 in the game as the Green Knights scored five first period goals to take the early lead.
Marian would be outshot 10-3 in the second period, but the defense limited quality scoring chances. The Sabres were able to build momentum in the final period of the game outshooting SNC 6-4.
The Green Knights finished with a 25-15 shot advantage and had six different goal scorers.
Junior Mike Gudmandson took the loss in goal for the Sabres, while senior Mike Baldwin would stop a total of 17 SNC shots.
Marian looks to bounce back closing out the series with St. Norbert tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 29, at 7 p.m. from Rink A at Blue Line.
