FITCHBURG, Wis. – The Marian University women's tennis concluded its fall schedule with an 9-0 win over Concordia Chicago and suffered an 8-1 setback versus Edgewood.
The Sabres earned the No. 4 seed in the NACC tournament, which is set to take place this spring and the Blue and White will host a match at Buttermilk Creek Park.
"We finished fourth (in the conference) and will host a conference tournament match in the spring," MU head coach Marcus Wiegert said. "We're not satisfied with our result against Edgewood and the score does not indicate the kind of match we had."
The Sabres made quick work of the Cougars.
Alissa Heid and Mackenzie Meyers (No. 1 doubles) won 8-3 and Meg Hartzell and Celeste Degeneffe (No. 2 doubles) eased to an 8-6 victory. Mati Kissack and Alyssa Ostrowski (No. 3 doubles) closed out doubles play with an 8-4 win.
Hartzell (No. 1 singles) kept the momentum going with a 6-1, 6-1 victory, while Meyers (No. 2 singles) dominated 6-0, 6-3.
Heid (No. 3 singles) rolled 6-0, 6-0 and Andrea Krahenbuhl (No. 4 singles) dominated 6-1, 6-0. Melissa Spannbauer (No. 5 singles) won 6-3, 6-0 and Kristin Houle (No. 6 singles) rolled 6-0, 6-1.
Hartzell picked up the Sabres' lone point against Edgewood. She won 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 1 singles match.
