Stars sweep Sabres before final home stand

Box Score

RIVER FOREST, Ill. - Marian University women's volleyball (4-17, 2-3 NACC) couldn't find an offensive rhythym as the Sabres were swept on the road by Dominican with set scores of 25-19, 25-16, and 25-23.

The Sabres held serve to open both the first and second set, but the Stars would finish each set out strong to jump out to the early 2-0 lead.  In the third set Marian battled back from an early deficit to take a 14-11 lead, but Dominican would use a 7-1 run to take an 18-15 advantage.  MU bounced back, however, and retook the lead at 22-21 before the Stars finished out the set once again scoring four of the final five points to close the match.

Senior Catelyn Brehm led the way for Marian with a team-high seven kills and eight digs to go with a .115 hitting percentage.  Junior Amber Baker assisted on 17 kills with a pair of service aces and five digs.

Marian opens their final home stand of the season Tuesday, Oct. 11 when MU hosts rival Concordia Wisconsin at 7 p.m. in Sadoff Gym.
