Box Score FOND DU LAC, Wis. - Marian University women's hockey (3-5-0, 2-3-0 NCHA) was outshot 46-19 in the series finale against Concordia College but sophomore Lindsey Strainis would stop all 46 Cobber shots in a 1-0 Sabre win.
In a physical and defensive game, the lone goal would come at the 7:50 mark of the first period when freshman Ally Fox tipped in a shot in front of the net from senior Rian Lennon. The goal was number four on the year for Fox with Lennon and sophomore Nicole Niemi receiving assists.
The Sabres were only outshot 10-7 for the opening period but the Cobber offense got stronger as the game went on outshooting MU 17-7 in the second period and 19-5 in the final period. Strainis was up to the task, however, turning away each shot sent her way including a flurry of shots in the final minute while the Cobbers had an empty net at the other end of the ice.
Senior Emily Everson led the offense for Marian with a team-high four shots on goal.
Marian next travels to Adrian for a weekend series Dec. 2-3 with puck dropped scheduled for 6 p.m. (CST) for game one.
