Box Score FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Junior Jessica Roberts came off the bench to score a career-high 32 points to lead the Marian women's basketball team past Edgewood 64-55 Wednesday evening.
Roberts hit a jumper at 2:51 in the second half to give MU a 49-47 lead that it wouldn't relinquish.
It was in the final 1:31 of play where Roberts made it count. MU held a 52-48 advantage and the Oshkosh, Wis. native went to the line 14 times and converted 12 free throws. The two misses were with 10 seconds remaining and the game clearly out of reach. For the contest she finished 14-of-16 from the charity stripe.
Sophomore Brittany Bauman chipped in 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field. She also was a perfect 3-for-3 from the 3-point line. Fellow sophomore Hunter Godfroy helped out with seven points and grabbed six rebounds.
Junior Nicole Paulus scored six points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
As a team the Sabres were 21-of-26 from the free-throw line, while the Eagles were 8-of-20.
Rachel Pope scored 16 points to lead EC (6-16, 5-12 NACC).
MU (6-13, 4-13 NACC) returns to the hardwood Saturday at Rockford.
