Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. - Marian University men's volleyball (5-3, 3-1 MCVL) improved to 4-1 in their past five matches, three of their wins being sweeps, with a convincing sweep of Adrian on the road. The final set scores for the match were 25-18, 25-8, and 25-13.
After the opening set started with a 10-10 tie, the Sabres were able to take a slight 16-14 advantage before closing out the set with a 9-4 run. Six of the Marian points during the final stretch were kills.
The second set was all Sabres as MU opened by scoring 13 of the first 14 points and closed out the set with the final five points. Marian hit a match-high .385 during the set with 13 kills to only three errors.
Marian dominated the third set as well as they started with a 10-3 lead before finishing the set with five of the final six points in the set. The Sabres put together another efficient attack in what proved to be the final stanza with 11 kills to only three errors for a .308 hitting percentage.
The Sabres finished with a .284 hitting percentage for the match, while holding the Bulldogs to a negative attack percentage at -.011.
Jon Smallpage recorded a match-high 12 kills with a .429 hitting percentage to lead the offense with Aaron Wendels chipping in another 11 kills. Joey Dittman assisted 31 of the 36 Marian kills, while Cullen Liberski had a match-high 16 digs in the back row.
Marian travels to Lakeland Wednesday, Feb. 17 for a 7 p.m. first serve in MCVL action before a non-conference road trip to the Chicago area on the weekend.
