Box Score FOND DU LAC, Wis. - Marian women's hockey (7-16-1, 4-12-1 NCHA) trailed 1-0 heading into the third period but an early third period MU goal forced a 1-1 tie against St. Norbert.
The Green Knights opened the scoring just 1:50 into the contest as they took the early 1-0 lead in a period where they outshot Marian 8-4. MU bounced back in the second period outshooting SNC 8-4 but were unable to find the back of the net.
The Sabres then were finally able to break through in the third period to knot the score at 1-1. Amanda Siiro sent the puck to the net to Jill Schneider who dished it to Hailey Miller who buried the puck into the empty net from the left circle at the 2:52 mark. The goal was number three for Miller and ultimately forced overtime.
The Sabres dominated the extra period and had a copule of good chances but were unable to light the lamp leading to the 1-1 final. Marian was able to finish the game with a 27-24 shots advantage after putting five shots on goal in overtime.
Lindsey Strainis played well in goal for the Sabres turning away 23 shots and holding SNC 0-2 on the power play.
Marian concludes the season tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 20, at 2 p.m. against St. Norbert and will honor their three seniors prior to the start of the game.
