CHICAGO - Marian University men's volleyball (6-5, 3-2 MCVL) swept the Illinois Institute of Technology in straight sets to get back in the win column with set scores of 25-21, 25-18, and 26-24.

The Scarlet Hawks opened with a small 11-10 lead before a quick 5-1 Marian run gave the Sabres a 15-12 lead.  Marian was able to hold onto this lead the remainder of the set as they recorded 10 kills in the opening set win.

The second set was similar as IIt had a 12-11 lead before a 6-0 run from Marian gave the Sabres a 17-12 lead.  MU was then able to close out the set with the final five points as they hit .241 in the set with nine kills.

IIT started strong in the third set with the first five points, but Marian was able to finish strong and closed out the match with a .226 hit percentage and 12 kills.

The Sabres finished the match with a .189 hitting percentage, while holding IIT to a .081 hitting percentage with 10 total blocks.

Jon Smallpage had a team-high 12 kills with a .393 hit percentage and 13 digs to lead the offense and defense for a double-double.  Joey Dittman had assists on 26 of the 31 MU kills.

The two teams will meet again Friday, Feb. 26 at 5 p.m. from Sadoff Gym.
