FOND DU LAC, Wis. - Marian men's volleyball (7-5, 3-2 MCVL) hit .337 as they completed the season sweep of Illinois Tech with set scores of 25-20, 24-26, 25-19, and 25-18.

The Sabres opened the match with 16 kills and hit .500 to start the match with a set win.  The Scarlet Hawks opened the match strong, however, scoring seven of the first 10 points in the match before an 8-1 run midway through the set gave MU an 18-15 advantage that they would not relinquish.  Marian finished the set scoring six of the final eight points in the match.

Similarly, IIT opened the second set well with an 18-12 lead eventually extending the advantage out to 23-17 before Marian began a comeback.  The Sabres managed to score five consecutive and fight off a pair of set points to bring the set to a 24-24 draw.  The Scarlet Hawks bounced back, however, and used a service ace to end the set at 26-24.

IIT hit .235 in the set and forced Marian to hit 10 errors holding MU to an .062 attack percentage.

After a 6-6 start to the third set, Marian used a 7-2 run to take a 14-9 lead.  The Sabres held the lead steady the remainder of the set and closed it out with a 4-1 run.

The Sabres then had their best attacking set to close out the match hitting .565 with 14 kills to only one error.  MU opened with eight of the first 13 points for the early lead before finishing the match on a 6-2 run, including the final four points.

Jon Smallpage had a match-high 20 kills, while also hitting .552 in the match to lead the Sabre offense.  Aaron Wendels led the ack row with a match-high 10 digs, and Joey Dittman assisted 36 of the Sabre kills in the win.

Marian next opens a five-match road trip at Loras Friday, March 4 with a 7 p.m. first serve.
