Box Score FOND DU LAC, Wis. - Marian University women's hockey (7-14-0, 4-10-0 NCHA) completed the season sweep of Finlandia for the fourth consecutive season with a 3-1 win from Blue Line Family Ice Center.
The Sabres opened the game fast scoring a pair of goals in the first two minutes of action. Courtney Wittig netted her 14th goal of the year to start the scoring with assists to Jessie Meluch and Emily Everson. Then 49 seconds later Jill Schneider lit the lamp for her fifth score of the year with an assist to Hailey Miller to bring the score to 2-0.
The Sabres held a 19-6 shots advantage heading into the first intermission.
Miller would nearly light the lamp but only found the post with the Lions cutting the deficit in half shortly after with a second period goal. MU held another considerable advantage in shots in the second period at 18-6.
A Paige Johnson goal with only 1:20 remaining in the contest ended any thoughts of a Finlandia come back to seal a 3-1 win. Johnson was assisted on the goal by Abbey Dokken and Sarah Bier for her second goal of the year.
