Box Score FOND DU LAC, Wis. - Marian University men's volleyball (9-10, 5-6 MCVL) finished a tough week falling to their third consecutive ranked opponent in No. 14 MSOE with set scores of 25-19, 25-23, and 25-17.
The Raiders would hit .550 and .450 in the first two sets of th ematch, respectively, before Marian opened the third set with an 8-1 lead. MSOE was able to answer, however, and used a 10-2 run late in the set to complete a sweep. This marked the first time in the inaugural season the Sabres were swept in back-to-back matches.
MSOE finished the match with a .358 hitting percentage, and were especially strong at the net with 10 total blocks.
Aaron Wendels led the Sabres with a match-high 11 kills with Jon Smallpage chipping in six kills and adding a pair of service aces. Cullen Liberski had a match-high eight digs from the back row, while Joey Dittman assisted 21 of the 25 MU kills.
The Sabres next travel to Sheboygan, Wis. Wednesday, March 23 where they will have a triangular with host Lakeland and North Central (Ill.). MU opens with North Central at 4 p.m. and will close out the triangular against Lakeland at 8 p.m. with both matches in non-conference action.
Marian then closes out the inaugural season against Benedictine and Dominican, respectively, at home April 1-2.
