Box Score 2 FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Marian University softball team found rolled past Albion and Bridgewater State to close out the first-half of the annual spring break trip Monday afternoon.
In game two the Sabres used a fast start to upend BSU 9-6.
In the bottom half of the first inning senior Gabby D'Oronzo drew a bases-loaded walk and junior Nicole LaBeck followed that up with a single up the middle to bring home a pair of runs.
In the third D'Oronzo delivered again with a double to left field to push across a run and LaBeck tripled to right field to score D'Oronzo. Junior Tiffani Castillo delivered a sacrifice bunt to score LaBeck from third base and the Sabres led 7-2 after three-complete innings.
BSU (1-3) responded with four runs in the top of the fourth, but the Sabres (6-4) added runs in the fifth and sixth frames.
Junior Shannon Huray earned her third win of the season. She tossed 3 2/3 innings and allowed six hits, six runs (one earned) and walked five and fanned five batters.
LaBeck went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and a run scored and D'Oronzo finished 1-for-2 with a pair of RBIs.
Morning game
Senior Emily Gorges tossed a complete game and allowed two hits, no runs and struck out nine as the Sabres rolled past Albion 8-0 in six innings.
Junior Sara Terrian started the scoring in the top of the first with a line-drive single up the middle to score two runs.
The offense continued to roll the following inning when LaBeck scored on a throwing error and freshman Olivia Hartley and Gorges each added an RBI and the Blue and White led 5-0 after two innings of play.
