Box Score 2 FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Marian University softball team suffered a sweep at the hands of Concordia Wisconsin and fell by scores of 9-1 and 6-4 Saturday afternoon at Smith Field.
In game two CUW (14-10, 6-2 NACC) jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but the Sabres rallied back tie the game.
In MU's half of the third inning senior Emily Gorges belted a 2-run home run to center field and brought the Sabres to within 4-2.
MU (17-9, 6-4 NACC) generated offense in the bottom of the sixth. Senior Tana Vanden Heuvel doubled to right field to score Lindsey Strainis. Junior Sara Terrian followed that with an RBI single to score Vanden Heuvel and knot it at 4-4.
The game went to extra innings and the Falcons found pay dirt in the top of the eighth with a pair of doubles, both of which resulted in runs.
Marian struggled with three errors and left eight batters on base.
In game one CUW opened up a 7-1 lead and didn't look back.
Junior Gabby D'Oronzo batted 2-for-3 with a run scored and Rachel Soch finished 1-for-2 with an RBI.
MU returns to action tomorrow with a NACC doubleheader at Alverno.
