FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Marian University men's soccer team struggled to gain traction and UW-Platteville walked away with a 3-0 victory Sunday afternoon at Smith Field.

The Pioneers (4-1) scored two goals in the opening 15 minutes and controlled tempo throughout the contest.

UWP added its third goal in the waning moments of the second half.

The Sabres (1-3) were outshot 19-6, including 11-3 in the opening period.

Freshman Tyler Schultz performed in his first career-start, while Ian Chacon recovers from injury.

The Grafton, Wis. product finished with a game-high seven saves.

MU is in action Wednesday at Beloit and open conference play Saturday at Concordia Chicago.
