Sabres struggle in NACC opener at Edgewood

MADISON, Wis. - The Marian University women's volleyball team (0-10, 0-1 NACC) were held to an .058 hitting percentage against Edgewood as the Sabres dropped their NACC opener with set scores of 25-12, 25-13, 25-20.

The Sabres were able to hang tough at the beginning of all three sets, but late extended runs from Edgewood allowed the Eagles to take the match in straight sets.  The Edgewood offense was firing on all cylinders all match long as the Eagles were able to total 44 kills with a .356 hitting percentage for the match. 

Senior Catelyn Brehm was the top performer for the Sabres with nine kills to go with a .333 hitting percentage, while freshman Jenna Skroski had a team-high eight digs in the back row.

Marian travels to Rock Island, Ill. to open the Augustana Tournament against Grinnell and Illinois College Friday, Sept. 16.  The first match will have a first serve at 3:30 p.m.
