Box Score BELOIT, Wis. – After a scoreless first half the Marian University men's soccer team erupted for three second-half goals and dispatched Beloit 3-1 Wednesday afternoon.
Two minutes into the second half junior Muhammed Abshir scored unassisted. Five minutes later junior Alonso Fragoso received a pass from Brandon Chavez and drilled it past the goalkeeper and the Sabres opened a 2-0 advantage.
At 61:13 Beloit countered to bring the score to within 2-1, however, MU swiftly responded.
Junior Cristian Rodriguez received a pass from Fragoso and delivered the ball to the back of the net and the Sabres kept Beloit at bay the remainder of regulation.
Freshman goalkeeper Tyler Schultz played well in his second-career start and made four saves for his first-career win.
The Sabres (2-3) outshot the Buccaneers (3-2) 13-8, but dominated the second half by a 10-4 margin.
MU opens conference play Sunday at Concordia Chicago.
