Box Score FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The Marian University women's volleyball team (3-12, 1-1 NACC) continued their hot play offensively hitting a season high .275 with 48 kills in a convincing sweep of MSOE.
MSOE kept the opener tight with a 20-17 tally before the Sabres closed out the set scoring four of the final five points. Marian recorded a .419 hitting percentage led by freshman Erika Horstman's four kills to open the match.
The second set was similar but required a Marian come from behind effort to take a 2-0 lead. The start of the set was a back-and-forth affair with MSOE taking a 21-18 lead before Marian finished strong again using a 6-2 run to take a 24-23 lead. The Raiders would hold off the first set point opportunity, but the Sabres capitalized on the next opportunity to close out the set at 26-24.
The back row was especially well in the set outdigging MSOE 25-15, while junior Amber Baker had a pair of service aces.
Marian was in complete control for the third set jumping out to a commanding 14-5 lead. The Raiders managed to cut the deficit down to five, but the Sabres scored four consecutive points to finish the match with a set score of 25-16.
The offense was spread out for Marian with four players recording eight or more kills. Sophomore Alexandra Meidl led the way with match-high 10 kills and a .471 hitting percentage. A pair of freshman led the way in the back row as Jenna Skroski had a match-high 19 digs, and Andrea Kubicek chipped in 14 digs.
Marian returns to action Tuesday, Sept. 27 hosting Lakeland for a 7 p.m. first serve.
