Box Score FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Sophomore Alexis Peterson scored two goals and the Marian University women's soccer team rolled past Beloit 3-0 Saturday afternoon.
After coming close on multiple scoring opportunities in the first half, the Sabres found pay dirt with one-minute remaining.
Sophomore Karissa Preston delivered a high-arching shot into the box and freshman Kailtyn Paetzke headed the ball in for her first career goal and the Blue and White went into halftime with a 1-0 advantage.
MU (2-0) controlled the tempo throughout the second half and scored late to put the contest out of reach.
At 79:11 Nicole Wojahn delivered a crisp pass to into the box and Peterson fired it past the BC goalkeeper. Just 10 minutes later Peterson scored again, this time receiving an entry pass from Erika Priewe, and found space at the top of the box and drilled it home to open up a 3-0 lead.
The Sabres outshot the Buccaneers (0-1) 17-11, including 10-4 in the second half. Peterson also finished with a game-high four shots, while Jenna Wojahn recorded three attempts on goal.
Senior Alysha Kallas earned her second shut out win of the season.
The Sabres return to the pitch Wednesday versus Lawrence.
