OSHKOSH, Wis. – The Marian University women's tennis team upended Beloit 9-0 Friday afternoon in non-conference action at the YMCA Tennis Center in Oshkosh.
"Our team did a great job of coming ready to play," MU head coach Marcus Wiegert said. "We got off to a hot start in doubles and followed it up in singles play. We need to play some good tennis as we head into our last week of the fall season."
Mackenzie Meyers (No. 1 singles) won 6-2, 6-3 and Alissa Heid (No. 2 singles) cruised to a 6-0, 7-5 victory.
Andrea Krahenbuhl (No. 3 singles) continued her strong play with a 6-3, 6-1 victory and Kristin Houle (No. 4 singles) easily won 6-0, 6-0. Melissa Spannbauer rolled to 6-1, 6-0 decision and Mati Kissack (No. 6 singles) closed out singles action with a decisive 6-3, 6-1 victory.
The Sabres were just as dominant in doubles action.
Celeste Degeneffe and Heid (No. 1 doubles) eased to an 8-5 victory, while Meyers and Houle (No. 2 doubles) dominated 8-0. Alyssa Ostrowski and Krahenbuhl (No. 3 doubles) closed out doubles with an 8-2 victory.
MU returns to NACC play next week with matches against Wisconsin Lutheran, MSOE, Concordia Chicago and Edgewood.
