Box Score MEQUON, Wis. - Marian University men's hockey (9-7-1, 7-5-0 NCHA) completed a sweep of Concordia Wisconsin with a final score of 3-1.
The Sabres and Falcons skated evenly to open the game and it wasn't until the 17:11 mark that junior Curtis Lewington was able to find the back of the net to open the scoring. Senior Brodie Jamieson and sophomore Jake Howie assisted the goal that gave MU the early lead.
Marian wouldn't need much time in the second period to extend the lead as freshman Lawson MacDonald netted his first collegiate goal nine seconds into the period to put MU up 2-0, senior Scott Milnthorp earned an assist on the play.
Then on the power play, Lewington was able to light the lamp for the second time in the game with an assist to senior Derek Perl and freshman Shawn Brennan.
The Falcons answered the Lewington power play goal with a man-advantage goal of their own just 1:53 later, but CUW would be unable to sneak anything else past senior Mike Baldwin who improved to 8-4-1 on the season with a 23 save performance.
Marian opens a home-and-home series against Lake Forest at Blue Line Friday, Jan. 20 with a 7 p.m. puck drop.
