Box Score FOND DU LAC, Wis. - Marian University women's hockey (8-7-1, 5-5-0 NCHA) scored six goals in the final two periods to defeat Finlandia 7-3.
Freshman Ally Fox opened the scoring at the 9:26 mark of the first period with assists to Sarah Bier and junior Ellie Deans. The period saw Marian dominate the action outshooting Finlandia 19-7.
Fox then tallied her second goal of the game at the 3:51 mark of the second, assists to seniroEmily Everson and sophomore Hailey Miller, and the Lions and Sabres would trade off four power play goals the rest of the period. Sophomore Jill Schneider tallied the first, assist to Deans, and Miller lit the lamp with just 1:00 left in the period to put Marian on top 4-2 with assists from Fox and Bier.
Junior Paige Johnson tallied the third power play goal of the game for MU to open the scoring for the third period, assists to freshman Morgan Bolin and Schneider. Senior Paige Picard padded the lead with an unassisted goal, first of the season, that put Marian up 6-2.
Finlandia responded with a breakaway goal but just 26-seconds later sophomore Abbey Dokken responded with her fourth goal of the year. Senior Rian Lennon and sophomore Sheila Blower assisted the goal that set the final at 7-3.
The Sabres finished the game outshooting the Lions 48-17 with the power play unit going 3-7.
Senior Maddy Dixon (2-2-0) earned the win for the Sabres making 14 saves on the day.
Marian travels to UW-Stevens Point in non-conference action Tuesday, Jan. 24 for a 7 p.m. puck drop.
