SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - Marian University women's basketball (3-14, 2-10 NACC) fell to rival Lakeland on the road to close out the season series with the Muskies.

Lakeland opened the game fast scoring the first 12 points forcing a Marian timeout early.  The Muskies were able to use the run to cruise to a 28-13 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Muskies were able to expand on their lead to open the second quarter but a late 9-2 run from the Sabres helped cut into the deficit heading into halftime.

In the second half, however, the Lakeland offense would continue to churn and the Sabres would have no answer as LU was able to cruise to the win.

Senior Nicole Paulus scored a team-high 19 points to pace the offense for the Sabres, while sophomore Brandi Bender chipped in 12 points along with grabbing a team-high eight rebounds.

Marian returns home to host Alverno Saturday, Jan. 28 for a 2 p.m. tip.
